RATES

I have been a student of Nelda’s during my winter season in Florida for over 4 years. Each year when I return I look forward to resuming my classes with her. I always need to be gently whipped back into shape after my summer season classes in Canada not being nearly as instructive or having the same level of attention to proper positioning as my sessions with Nelda.
I had to return to Canada early this year because of the COVID-19 situation and was lamenting how out of shape and practice I would become since all facilities were closed here. Nelda agreed to try FaceTime classes with me and I don’t know what I would do without them. She brings so much to my day from her classes. She always knows what I need each session and has helped me enormously.
Just because we are 3000 miles apart, she will still pick up on improper positioning and help you to correct with gentleness and humor. My body is stronger and in much better shape than it has been in a long time.
Nelda truly cares about her students and makes sure your individual needs are being looked after, mentally and physically.
I can’t thank Nelda enough for all that she is doing for me. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a superior yoga experience at whatever level they are at to visit Nelda at her studio in Nokomis. Nelda has different classes for all levels of experience and are always different each time you go.

DESCRIPTIONS

Vinyasa Style: Vinyasa is the Sanskrit term for flow and refers to alignment of breath and movement to create a dynamic, flowing form of yoga. Poses are held for a specific number of breaths before moving on to the next pose. Vinyasa also refers to the movements or series of movements done between each pose in the series. Beginners concentrate on the alignment of poses. Poses and difficulty increases at each stage.

Hot Vinyasa: this about the flow sequence and is done in a heated room to allow the detoxification of the body. Very beneficial for sore joints and arthritis.

Yin Yoga: a slow-paced style of yoga with poses, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time—five minutes or more per pose is typical. This is more of a passive, non-aggressive practice.

Beach Yoga: Take in the beach air, the beauty of the water and occasional dolphin or manatee just off the shore while you practice your Vinyasa Style Yoga.

Core Strengthening: The main focus is to work the abdominal muscles followed by a 30 minute restoration. Restoration concentrates on relaxing the body and mind through breathing and breath movement.

Stretching in a Heated Room: Exactly as it sounds. Usually for Levels 2 and 3.

Foam Rolling: It massages and breaks down the fascia, a layer of thick connective tissue that encases the entire body. Used to help soothe tight, sore areas and speed up muscle recovery.
